psychopaths

Some seems incapable of long term, strategic thinking. This is also characteristic of psychopaths, who also have difficulty with long term thinking because, lacking empathy, they don’t imagine themselves in their opponents’ positions, which is a critical component of strategic thinking. Instead, they rely on short term manipulations, often emotional. Their worldview is dominated by fear and competition. They are incapable of and do not understand trust or the value of obtaining and maintaining it. Nor do they understand its fragility. They therefore do not understand the need to keep commitments in the face of short term loss, nor loyalty or true honor. They don’t understand why anybody would adhere to non-coercive moral principles such as international law or universality (the golden rule applied universally rather than just among the tribe). Instead, they follow the “rules based order,” in which, “I make up the rules as we go along,” to my advantage. They are therefore easily swindled by promises of short term gain.
Sany psychopaths are cloaked in the idealism of Murray Bookchin, but willing to sacrifice the ideal for their own short term gain or position within their tribe.
